Job Summary Position Objectives: Provides administrative support to the Public Works Director in almost all aspects of the operations of the department. This position involves constant contact with the public, city council members, vendors, contractors, other employees, etc. Must be able to work well under pressure and have excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills. Requires thorough knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel. Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Duties: Greets public in person and on telephone, answers questions, handles complaints and directs to other parties when necessary; handles reservations and scheduling of park facilities; creates and maintains various databases in Excel; maintains files, including permanent project files; corresponds with contractors, vendors and citizens. Issues purchase orders and codes to correct GL accounts; prepares monthly departmental reports and specific project reports; attends meetings as necessary. Minimum Requirements: Must be able to create and maintain various databases in Excel; must demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication with accurate spelling and data entry; ability to prepare records, reports and other documents neatly and accurately; operate standard office equipment including copier, fax and computer using MS Office software; must have prior experience in customer service; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city employees, outside agencies, city officials and the general public. Desirable Training and Experience: Required Experience, Certificates & Licenses: High School graduation or equivalent plus 4 years of clerical/administrative experience. Must have valid TX Drivers License with good driving record and be able to pass a criminal history background check and pre-employment drug screening.
