| Job Summary |
- On-site inspections (primarily residential) during all phases of residential
and commercial construction to ensure compliance with building,
electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire codes.
- Other inspections include mobile homes, swimming pools, patios/decks,
irrigation sprinklers, signage, tenant finish outs and others as needed.
- Assist as head of permitting, including maintain computer records and
reports concerning inspections, permits, certificates and floodplains.
- A Certified Flood Plain Administrator, monitors floodplain construction in review, the field and also as a contact with FEMA.
- Consult with customers, city departments, NFIP, LCRA and other
governmental agencies to discuss plans, provide information and make
interpretations to ensure compliance with codes and laws.
- Reviews and recommends ordinances for floodplain, building, electrical,
plumbing, fire, and other applicable codes.
- Perform development and construction plan reviews.
- Enforces the City''s Tree Protection Ordinances and tree mitigation.
- Investigates complaints and notifies violators of unsafe, uninhabited,
unsanitary structures, flood hazards and enforces codes as necessary.
- Coordinates with contractual health inspector.
- Advise adjoining municipalities and builders within the ETJ of floodplain
requirements.
- Coordinates with and helps notify LCRA of any maintenance issues or
violations of the Highland Lakes Watershed
Ordinance as applicable.
- Coordinates with Utility Department regarding water/sanitary sewer
connections to the lines and inspect/verify backflow requirements and
notifies LCRA or Travis County on completion of septic to sanitary sewer
conversions.
- Performs on-site required license checks of plumbers, electricians, etc.
- May issue citations as authorized.
- Attends various meetings including development review and Staff.
- Attendance at City Council meetings or Building and Standards
Commission meetings.
- Assist Development Services Director supervise Code Enforcement staff
as needed and act as Department head in the absence of the
Development Services Director.
- Oversee the Building Inspectors and City Fire Inspection Program.
- Establish and amend procedures, tasks, and department responsibilities
for staff as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
