| Job Summary |
The Wastewater Plant Operator will perform operational duties related to
the safe operation and maintenance of the City’s water and wastewater treatment systems. The responsibilities will include inspecting, operating, and maintaining all of the water & wastewater plants and pump stations, lift stations equipment; various physical, chemical, and biological testing systems; and making process changes based upon test data and operator knowledge to ensure plant operations are within design parameters.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Individual duties, assignments and responsibilities

- Monitor, operate and maintain water treatment equipment such as
pumps, valves, motors, electric motor controllers, blowers, filters,
systems, chemical feed equipment, sampling equipment and field
equipment.
- Monitor water treatment processes such as peroxidation, Flocculation /
Sedimentation, Filtration and Disinfection processes.
- Perform various laboratory tests and analysis on process streams for
control and reporting purposes.
- Inspect various water treatment equipment such as flow meters, pumps,
clarifiers, chlorinators, blowers, valves, and filters.
- Monitor and adjust plant equipment and processes to ensure that the
water treatment plant is operating in accordance with all applicable State
and Federal requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Assists with the installation and maintenance of water and sewer lines,
mains, and services.
- Assists in constructing water and sewer taps.
- Assists in using sewer cleaning machine and hand tools.
- Assists in unclogging water and sewer lines.
- Performs general maintenance, including cleaning facilities, clearing
brush from fences, painting, digging ditches, mowing, trimming, and
edging.
- Assists with routine maintenance on water and sewer construction
vehicles and equipment.
- Sets up barricades, cones, and construction signs, and flags as needed.
- Sludge removal by wasting and pressing.
- Completes paperwork and necessary reports.
