Job Summary |
The role of a Utility Maintenance worker is to provide residents of Lago Vista with quality water and wastewater services, to include any installations of new water/wastewater lines, repairs of such lines, and
performs line extensions and installation of new services for the City’s water distribution system and wastewater collection system. The Utility Maintenance worker performs repairs and maintenance on established City infrastructures as well as assist City Hall with customer requests and concerns. This role is also responsible for the operation of heavy and light machinery, both during transport to job site location, and the utilization of equipment for project/jobsite completion. Occasionally the Utility
Maintenance worker performs traffic control duties during the repairs of public roadways.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Individual duties, assignments and responsibilities required
of the position)
- Performs repairs, maintenance, line extensions, and installation of new
services for the City’s water distribution system, wastewater collection
system and other City infrastructure in accordance with state and local
laws and ordinances.
- Performs manual labor as required but not limited to, shoveling, pipe
laying, jack hammering, etc.
- Completes written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor;
operates light to medium equipment and trucks.
- Operates air compressors, saws, drills, or any other equipment used by
the Utility Department; maintains and repairs City buildings and grounds
as assigned.
- Performs maintenance on vehicles and equipment as assigned.
- Repair water mains and water services.
- Performs repairs of the City’s sewer mains and sewer services.
- Perform the installation of new meters.
- Assist Crew workers when needed.
- Duties may be added as needed.
